Meet Our Clinicians

Dr Mark Braithwaite

Mark has 30 years of clinical dental experience.  A Taree boy, he returned after working in Orange NSW and Cambridge UK to join his father Brian’s practice in 1988.  Mark is passionate about providing overall care for his patients and involves them in their preventive planning and treatment decisions.  He takes pride in the ongoing care of his patients including many he has known as a child.  He is keenly interested in providing well researched treatment that is proven, reliable, efficient and long lasting. Mark is the current (and past) president of the North Eastern Division of the Australian Dental Association and previously was secretary for many years and the organiser of its continuing education meetings. He travels to many conferences and scientific programmes and enjoyed mentoring young trainee dentists as a staff clinical supervisor at the Charles Sturt University Dental School.  As a member of the Australian Society of Endodontology he has a particular interest in root canal treatment, but also enjoys implant, crown and bridge , and aesthetic restorative dentistry.

Dr Annika Braithwaite

As a third generation dentist, many of you may have seen Dr Annika’s friendly face over the years, where she would spend her university holidays assisting Dr Mark. Now days, she’s on the other side of the chair, treating patients! You’ll often hear her laughing and chatting away to patients, she loves catching up with them during their dental appointments (sometimes Karen has to pop her head in to remind her to get moving).
Upon graduating from Charles Sturt University in Orange, Dr Annika spent time working in private practice in Hobart and in public dentistry in Armidale, however she was was keen to make the move home to the coast when Dr Mark offered her a job at the end of 2017. She feels right at home at the practice and loves hearing stories from current patients of when her grandfather (Dr Brian) was their dentist!
Dr Annika is the immediate past president of the North Eastern Division of the Australian Dental Association NSW, and is still keenly involved in helping to organise local division meetings throughout the year. She often attends many courses for continuing education throughout the year, and has a particular interest in restorative and children’s dentistry.
Away from the practice, Dr Annika is kept very busy (and we mean very busy) by her toddler and slowly renovating an old weatherboard home with her husband. You’ll probably see her walking with her family and their over excited Border Collie along the Manning river on the summer afternoons / weekends, or riding their bicycles and exploring what our wonderful Manning Valley has to offer.

Oral Health Therapist

Megan Gollan

Megan is a born and bred local who started as a Dental Assistant with Mark in 2004. She completed a certificate 3 and 4 in Dental Assisting and then went off to the University of Newcastle to study for 4 years, still working as an assistant and then as a hygienist while continuing her study. Upon graduation as an Oral Health Therapist she then made the decision to head to the New England region of NSW to gain experience in the more rural towns of Armidale, Glen Innes, Inverell and Tenterfield. After spending a couple of years in the cold the call of home was too strong for her and her husband and they moved home to settle down and be closer to family.

Megan has also spent 5 years as an academic at the University of Newcastle, teaching the next generation of Oral Health Therapists. She is currently an Assessor for the New Zealand Dental Council and has previously held multiple positions on the Australian Dental and Oral Health Therapist Association New South Wales Inc.

In her spare time (which is hard to find with 3 children!), she enjoys watching and playing sport such as netball, touch and football (soccer). She likes spending time with family and friends and loves to get to know all of her patients! You will often here Megan chatting away and laughing with patients throughout their appointment.

Practice manager

Karen Holborow

Karen started working for Dr Braithwaite senior in 1994 as a dental assistant and has been working for the Braithwaite family since then. She took on the role as Practice Manager in 2005. Karen is married with four children. Outside of work time is spent juggling the many sporting activities of the family. Any free time is spent on the family farm, camping, beach and in the garden.
